proTeus is a multi-function drive combining a CD-ROM drive with a 650Mb re-writable optical disc drive. As a CD-ROM drive, proTeus supports all the major CD formats (CD Audio, Video CD, Photo CD etc.); in its other rôle, proTeus accepts 650Mb rewritable single-sided optical disc cartridges. These discs, known as PD media, allow the backup and storage of large files and applications, and work just like normal discs.
